Power (left) and Jones
Many thought Danny Wilson (left) needed about six new players to turn last season’s frustrating under-achievers into a team fit to challenge for something in 2008-09.Whatever the reason, it’s a worrying situation unless a number of players are going to do better than they did last season, James Brown is going to be a revelation in attack and the defence is not to give away too many soft goals.
Hands up all those who think that’s all going to happen.
A month ago, after signing Jones, Wilson was in the Mail quoted as saying: "There is no rush. As long as we can bring people in before the start of the season I will be quite happy. Certain things might fall into place before the season kicks off.
Well, there might have been no panic at the beginning of July, but it’s now the beginning of August and nothing’s happened.
Hopefully, the club will prove the doubters, including us, wrong.
But don't hold your breath.
