Collins goes straight into the squad for Saturday’s vital home game against Luton, making all the right noises about wanting to tighten things up and get some results to ease the worries just above the League One danger zone.
He’s been around a bit, but had been hampered by injury and lost the regular place he had won at Hull after signing from Port Vale.
If he can sort the defence out and make Pools a less pleasant back four to play against, he’ll be worth his weight in gold to the club.
Pools also made two bids for Stockport striker Anthony Elding, but in the end he joined Leeds. Can't think why!
Some fans think Moore (right) will be a miss, while others will be glad to see him go. He had scored nine goals, which isn’t bad, and his pace was his main threat. He had agreed to join Oldham, but when his dad Ronnie came calling late in the last day of the open window, he joined Tranmere. Nothing has been said on whether Pools received a fee for him – if they didn’t, somebody wants his bum kicking.
Moore had cited living in Warrington as his reason for wanting to be away – most people who have been there will find it difficult to understand why anybody would want to live in Warrington. There must be some nice bits somewhere?????
Ben Clark is still struggling with his thigh injury, so the chances are that Collins will partner Michael Nelson at the back. Andy Monkhouse appears to be on his way back from injury, but Saturday could be a game too soon as he works towards match fitness.
But whoever plays, a win is vital and if Pools fail, Danny Wilson could find a lot more people shouting for his head than the couple of hundred who did at Doncaster during Tuesday night’s pathetic defeat.
