What is the ground like?
The ground up until last season was a rotting decaying eyesore. But the newly built away stand at the south end of the ground just seems to have made it look like a proper stadium again. The redevelopment of the south end of the ground has given the U's a new 1200 seated stand which will be ready for the 2002/03 season.

The rest of the ground is mainly terracing, apart from the main stand. Cambridge United was recently voted best food out of all 92 football league and premiership grounds, so be sure to try their fantastic bacon butties!

The atmosphere is normally a good one, with large amounts of terracing meaning Cambridge United is one of the best places to find an atmosphere like the ‘good old days’. Attendances will be anything between 3000 and 5000 for a normal league match, this depends on the away support, where the team are in the league and other similar factors.

What is it like for away fans?
Away fans get either the newly built south end of the ground or a section of the ‘Habbin Terrace’ depending on numbers they bring. If they are likely to bring a good amount of fans they will get the south end of the ground, if not the Habbin Terrace is theirs.

If they are in the south end, you get the luxury of sitting in a brand spanking new stand. The only setback being it is a slight distance from the pitch. The advantage of being in the Habbin Terrace is you are close to the action and normally gives a good atmosphere. Cambridge United are a family club and away supports are welcome in the supporters bar. Trouble is very rare and only normally occurs at the local derbies, but still again is very rare.

Where is their for away fans to drink?
There are only really 2 pubs within walking distance of the Abbey Stadium, unless you’re prepared to walk to the town centre. The Wrestlers and The Greyhound are both within walking distance of the ground but police consult local authorities before setting off as certain clubs fans aren’t welcome.
How to get their and where to park?
For a full set of directions and where to park visit the clubs official website by clicking here.
Where is the nearest train station?
The nearest train station is Cambridge Station, which is either a good half an hour walk or a bus ride away. Buses aren't too reliable though so you are advised to check timetables before you set off!
