Pastorelli has already tested for Jordan this year and despite still having to confirm their main race drivers for 2006, news of the Dutchman's contract is an advance on the usual wait and see from the old Jordan.

"We are happy that he will continue working with us in 2006 to help us get the most out of Friday free practice sessions and at the same time he has an opportunity to keep on learning Formula One," said Colin Kolles.

Earlier, Midland confirmed that ex-BAR Honda driver and previous Jordan race driver Takuma Sato has been offered a race drive for 2006. Takuma however has yet to agree terms with the team and has not taken up their offer. This season's Jordan drivers Narain Karthikeyan and "Rookie of the Year" Tiago Monteiro are still in the hunt for the second seat at the team.
