Jason De Vos was one of two new signing Joe Royle bought in this past summer, joining from Wigan Athletic on a free transfer.

Jason started his career in his native Canada and in 1996 he moved to England from Montreal Impact joining Darlington on a free transfer he spent two seasons with Darlington making 52 appearances before being sold to Scottish side Dundee united for £400,000 in 1998. Jason went on to play over 100 times for the Tannadice side.

Second Division Wigan Athletic was his next club after they paid for £500,000 for his services in 2001, where he became captain. Jason was a key part in their Second Division title winning side playing in 43 league games and all five of Wigan’s league cup run that season. Injury meant he only played in about half of Wigan’s games last season but was still offered a contract extension which he turned down in order to keep his options open at the end of the 2003/2004.

It was Town who offered him a three year deal to come to Portman road and shore up what was one of the worst defences in the league during the 2003/2004 season and he jumped at the chance signing on the dotted line in may before officially joining on the 1st of July.

Jason has been capped by Canada at full international level nearly 50 times and is also the Canadian captain and Ipswich Town’s vice captain under Jim Magilton.
