Town After Maynard?
By Aston
June 20 2008
Town are reportedly ready to spend £1.5 million to bring Crewe Alexander striker Nicky Maynard to Portman Road during the summer.
The 21-year-old striker is a product of the Crewe youth system, the same youth system that produced current Town defender David Wright.

Town manager has signed two defenders already this summer and it is now known he wants to add to his attacking options with another striker.

He missed much of last season but still managed to average more then a goal every other game, scoring 15 times in 28 appearances for the railwaymen.

He has been linked to moved with a number of clubs including Blackburn and Middlesbrough and with 2 years remaining on his contract he would command a fee close to the £1.5 million being reported.

Well Dario Gradi (current Crewe director of Football) says they will listen to offers "So far no one has approached us about Nick and I doubt they will, but you never know. If it was the right deal and it was good for us and Nicky then we'd do it."
