McAuley To Be Captain?
By Aston June 19 2008
New Town signing Gareth McAuley is one of the possible candidates to replace Jason De Vos as captain of Town.
McAuley joined Town earlier in the week from Leicester City where he had stood in as captain on a handful of occasions and Jim says he is under consideration to replace De Vos as Town captain.

Jim: "I am delighted to sign Gareth and he is under consideration to take over from Jason as club captain, we will be assessing the situation in the days and perhaps weeks ahead before naming a new captain.

"Ideally it would be great to have four or five leaders around the club - and on the pitch."

Although taking nothing for granted McAuley says it would be an honour to captain Town, saying: "From what I understand and from what I have seen playing against Ipswich, Jason was something special, I cannot replace him, but I can do a similar job in my own way.

"I captained Leicester at times and if I was given the role at Portman Road it would be an honour and a privilege."

Am I the only person not keen on a new player becoming captain?
