PMS: Town – Wolves
By Aston October 29 2007
Sadie is back again giving you her own unique look at Town games, today the 3-0 win against Wolves gets the Sadie treatment.

Lee and Counago kick off the match for Town but it's not long before the defence are sprung into action when Ward, Eastwood and Kightly push up and really get the game started.

Clarke has no success when he runs into the path of Olofinjana and loses possession, shortly after once Town regains possession, Legwinski is the next of Olofinjana's victims, although granted it is gifted by the boys in blue. As the ball falls deeper into Town territory Wilnis decides a back pass is the way to go, no, no it's not, the back pass falls short allowing Kightly to nip through as everyone else had already given up the ball for Alexander. Well that leaves a rather tricky situation as Kightly goes for the strike and Alexander goes for Kightly. Penalty, Oh man how many more times!

Eastwood is the penalty taker and tries to put off Alexander by starting then stopping before he actually takes the kick, but it doesn't phase Alexander and he saves his second penalty in a row. Now it's very nice seeing his new found talent, but I'd much rather he didn't keep giving away penalties in the first place.

Play continues to be dominated by the visitors and Town struggle to make play reach the Wolverhampton half.

On the 10th minute Harding defends a Wolves corner but soon after they have another, this time cleared by Walters and whilst play occurs in the Wolves half Alexander hydrates. Oh the excitement from this match.

In the 13th minute Clarke runs into the Wolves defence and falls over for which he wins a free kick, Garvan and Harding line up for the free kick, Garvan is the dummy before Harding curls the ball just wide of goal, it's a surprisingly good kick.

Town seem to be waking up now and in the 15th minute Legwinski finds Clarke on the wing before positioning himself in the centre of the box so that when the ball is crossed in he is in the perfect position to... head wide.

A strong headed ball from De Vos clears play up field for a Town approach, it ends soon after though when the ball is passed back to Wolves.

Town have their first corner in the 20th minute, but nothing comes from it.

Ward is very clearly offside in the 23rd minute but it takes linesman Mr. Mason so long to notice that it is quite possible that there was time for a snail infestation between the incident and decision.

Ward is busy again in the 24th minute getting past Walters and Wright but Alexander is having none of it and punches the ball clear.

Lee is booked in his own half in the 31st minute, but Wolves find no advantage from the kick given to them and a short time later Wilnis seems to find himself at the centre of a round of heads and volleys.

Harding hits the target in the 40th minute, well if the target is the back of the green king stand.
Owen Garvan's pass finds Alan Lee who curled the ball into the net to make it 1-0.

Just before the break a good strike from Wolves forces a good save, and to the other end Clarke's effort is firmly caught.
The return from the break saw Wolves make two changes to their side with Craddock and Eastwood being replaced by Little and Jarvis.

Town have many chances to create chances but do so with minimum effect before play is stopped against Counago who is offside.

Soon after the play returns to Town when Garvan decides it's a good idea to try and slam the ball through everyone between him in the middle of the visiting half and the goal, well it wasn't bad, it forced a save from Hennessey tipping the ball past the post, giving Town a corner from which there is a little bit of play around the box before Lee has the ball in front of an open goal and misses.

In the 50th minute Wolves finally get a bit of action for themselves and win a corner, Garvan blocks the first attempt before Kightly blasts over.

Counago fights his way through the Wolves box using rather impressive skill to pass the defence then topping it off by sliding the ball the rest of the distance only being stopped by the back of the net. It's 2-0 to Town and Counago celebrates by wagging his tongue.

Whilst I'm off in the loo, Wolves score but it is ruled offside and I return to the home crowd being impressed with Clarke and Counago.

As the hour arrives the Town defence are staying strong as Wolves begin to edge closer to attack and as the attacking side of Town goes quiet nothing really happens for 10 minutes or so until Clarke makes way for Roberts, don't be mistaken, this inspires nothing, it's just a match fact.

The final change is then made for the visitors in the 74th minute with Keogh replacing Kightly.
Legwinski hits the post just before Lee makes way for Haynes; hopefully his fresh legs will wake this game up.

Collins and Little are working together to try and keep Haynes away from goal and are doing a rather good job at it, especially as whenever they give away a corner, the wonderful corner taking skill of Garvan brings fear to the bones of... no one.

Just before the 90 minutes are up Counago says "See ya" and Bruce says "Hello" then 3 minutes added are announced.

During injury time Harding finds space to run with the ball and finds Haynes ready to accept, Haynes being defended manages to work the ball round beautifully to make it his, slams the ball home to make it 3-0. The pack of wolves from the crowd of 23,306 who hadn't left already starts making their way now.

The match ends but not before Wolves have their final say in attack, but then Alexander has his final say, denying Wolves from dirtying his sheet.

MOTM: Well I'm not to sure who it was, but I can be sure of who it wasn't, Sorry Wilnis, you were certainly the Dud of the match, I think I'd have to go with Harding, he wasn't world class but he was faultless and is becoming an increasing impact on the Town attack.
