Can We Look Forward? |
|
Is it time to put the past behind us? I suppose so. A lot
of painful lessons have been learned this past year. Relegation, financial
instability and finally administration. A bleak and a sad period in the
history of Halifax Town Football Club.
We are not out of the woods yet, but as we stand things are looking better. We have a consortium made up of supporters, a new Manager, the HTST is up and running the team is being put together and the construction on the East Stand may start soon I urge the new consortium to seek out and take advice form whoever can provide it. They are new to the game, and a new set up will require vision and prudence. They must not expect things to happen quickly as consolidation is necessary. They cannot allow themselves to overspend or make unrealistic budgets. They must not make the same mistakes as previous Chairmen have made. The appointment of Chris Wilder appears to be a positive step. He is known to everyone at Halifax Town and he comes with glowing references. He probably has made significant sacrifices to join the fold, which makes it even more positive as this appointment could either make or break him in football management. He knows that another disastrous season could see the end of our club as we know it. Good to see the HTST finally getting their act together. They have backed the local business consortium verbally and financially. They are the voice of the supporters and can provide help and advice when most needed. I hope the person appointed to meet with the Board has the necessary communication and diplomatic skills and can provide ideas, which can help the club, move forward both commercially and on a day to day basis. The East Stand development is an integral part of the re-building of the Club. Not only financially as a means of generating finance but also because everyone involved will feel good about having a finished stadium and we do not get the continuous abuse from visiting supporters. So what can we look forward to? A football club run properly. A Manager who can motivate the players to success and has an eye for bringing in players who are prepared to fight 100% for the club. A strong HTST keeping an eye on things and a finished stadium. Sounds good. In the end we are judged by results and I would like to think that we could be pushing for a play-off place this season. If all the above happens, we will again have a club and a team to support with pride and passion. Let’s go for it and I wish everyone involved the best of luck. Martensite |
