Question Of The Week |

We asked:
Last week the HTST sent out letters to all members asking them for their approval to contribute £10,000 to the Hall/Cairns consortium. The HTST are not allowed to hand over money without a majority vote coming from the members. And so Adie Hall and David Cairns will be hoping that the majority of the members will back their bid. From the vote on this site, 59% of people who voted would approve the HTST joining the consortium, but this vote was conducted from a small section of the supporters. It is unclear whether the majority of the 319 members or however many that actually returned their forms will back the HTST to hand over the £10,000 in return for a seat on the board. Some people have aired their concerns on the shaymen.org message board as well as the forum on the HTST website. They feel that not enough information has been released to the members about why they are backing the Hall/Cairns bid. If a lot of the members feel the same way then a 59%-41% split vote could easily swing the other way. This might cause problems for Hall and Cairns. O'Hara has got a extension from the courts before he has to go back with proposals. He wanted the extra time so that he could collect all the money from the backers behind the Hall/Cairns bid. This would then strengthen their bid when it was put before the court to take the club into a CVA, but if the HTST don't back their plans it might cause them a few sleepless nights. |
