Bobby To Be The New Youth Coach
By Cuthbert
July 4 2002
The Shaymen have signed former player Bobby Barr as Youth Team Coach. This is further proof that Halifax Town's future must now be secure even if the owners have not yet been confirmed.

Town Hit The Barr

This is turning into a busy week for the Town. On Tuesday Chris Wilder was officially confirmed as the man to take Halifax Town forward if the Hall/Cairns group gained control over the club. And now today they have confirmed that Bobby Barr will be in charge of the youngsters next season.

The Football League Youth Alliance North East Conference will be the stage for the rising stars that hope to be soon knocking on the first team door at the Shay.

They will be up against some good quality teams such as Bradford City, Grimsby, Hull, Lincoln and York just to name a few.

And, in addition to Bradford, the Shay youngsters will face Grimsby, Hull, Lincoln, York, Scarborough, Scunthorpe, Hartlepool and Darlington home and away in the first half of the campaign.

Last season the team had a good run in the youth F.A.Cup before being knocked out at home against Reading.

The team has also brought on some good youngsters that are part of the first team squad after Neil Refearn brought them into the first team last season.

Andy Farrell is definitely one for the future after some dazzling performances up front towards the end of last season. I still don't know how he did not get off the mark, but his pace could be a real bonus in the non-league next season.

Craig Smith is a battling midfielder who is not scared to get stuck in, and Nicky Heinmann showed last season that he has the composure to become another class act for the club, so it just shows how important the youth team is to a small club like Halifax Town.

Because of the current situation of the club, Bobby Barr is being sponsored by three local firms. Thanks to them for their great gesture and good luck to Bobby Barr.
