Surrey Sign Schofield

Surrey have signed 27 year old former England all-rounder Chris Schofield until the end of the season. The leg spinner was released by Lancashire in 2004 and has been searching for a new County ever since.
Schofield had been working as a painter and decorator since his release from Lancashire in 2004. Suring his time in the wilderness, he has played for old club Littleborough, Suffolk and for Durham second X1.

He had on been on a trail period at Surrey and has featured in some second eleven matches. He made his first team debut on Sunday against Yorkshire in the pro40 league and took one for 39 from eight overs. He is also in the squad for the County Championship match against Glamorgan, which starts on Wednesday.
Schofield was given an England central contract in 2000 and play6ed in two Test matches against Zimbabwe. Although hitting 57 with the bat, he failed to take a wicket in two test matches.
