Viduka Back For Stoke Game
By Tyne-Talk
November 20 2008
Newcastle United have been boosted by the news that Mark Viduka is expected to return to the fold in 2 weeks time just ahead of the festive period. The Aussie striker who has been out for nearly 8 months is hoping to make his comeback against Stoke on December 2nd having recovered from surgery on his Achilles injury sustained last season against Chelsea.
Kinnear told NUFC.co.uk;

"It's great to have Mark Viduka around the place again.

He's a top, top player and he's given everyone a lift just by joining in with the sessions again.

But there is no way he will be involved against Chelsea.

We've waited so long for him to come back, it would be ludicrous to rush him straight into the side when he isn't match fit. He's not too far away, but we have to be patient.

It'll be another couple of weeks yet I'd imagine.

I'm actually spoilt for choice with the strikers really, particularly now we are getting key players like Michael and Mark back.

I haven't forgotten about Alan Smith either who is another quality player in that department. He's probably another six weeks away yet, but hopefully we'll see him in a Newcastle shirt again before the end of the year."

This is great news, whatever you think of Viduka's conditioning, age, weight, etc. We desperately need someone to hold up and distribute the ball.

Who cares about his weight. As long as he puts every piece of that big frame into either Abdy Faye or Griffin and knocks him to the dirt, I'll love him.

looked poor yesterday, nice to have the choice up there, just hope it doesn't end Oba Martins career....bring back the 433 with MO, Oba and Dukes up top!

I thought Viduka looked fair good. He had a good shot and had a chance that if he had been playing for a bit longer he might have done better. Good to hear fans boo the decision to take Martins off!

Mind you, when Owen comes off all the 10year olds will complain how superman isn't playing even though he scored a fine individual effort (according to the media) against Wigan!
