Milner Talks Toon

Former Newcastle United winger James Milner has been very vocal ahead of tomorrow night’s clash at St James’ Park where he will line up for the opposing team, Aston Villa. The 23 year old who left for Villa Park in the summer after a season of speculation and issues over a new contract, has backed Joey Barton to have a big impact at the club.

Of Kinnear and the club he said:

“It’s disappointing with what’s going on up there at the moment with all the instability. Hopefully they can sort it out from the top as soon as possible.

If Joe Kinnear is the right man for the job then they should put him in permanently. And if not then get someone else in.”

He backed former team-mate Joey Barton to move forward with the club:

“A lot of things have gone on with Joey off the field. But he’s shown his ability in past seasons and what a good player he is. Hopefully now he can get some back page headlines for himself and stay off the front. You hear loads of different things, people say things and you read things in the paper.

But you can only ever take someone how they are with you, how you find them.

Joey was fantastic with me. I always got on with him and I wish him all the best. Hopefully he can put in some good performances for them and help move away from where they are in the table.”Meanwhile Aston Villa manager Martin O’Neil is confident that if Newcastle United had offered James Milner a good contract he would never have left the club and signed for Villa in what was their record signing of £12m.“My own view is that had James been given a new contract at Newcastle I think he would have stayed. It’s not really about money; it is about your value at the club.He had played a lot of games at Newcastle and if they were stalling on a contract, because of that we had the opportunity to get him in then I am delighted. I’m delighted with him.James was very popular with the crowd and in terms of how he was valued in comparison to some of the other players, then I think he would have been happy to have stayed.Over the whole turmoil maybe people felt the offer was too good to turn down. My own view is that James Milner is worth every penny.”

Re: Milner Talks Toon
I wished we'd kept him, because we have such a small squad.
I'd rather they had got rid of Smith, at least Milner worked his socks off for the club.

Reckon he'll be back one day.

He's a good lad, can't understand how the new contract was so unreasonable.

Re: Milner Talks Toon
He was our main "door opener".
He was so creative on the pitch.
We really should have tried harder to keep the lad
