Newcastle United striker Michael Owen may feature in Monday's game against Aston Villa after Joe Kinnear said he may put him on the bench. Owen picked up a groin strain whilst training during the International break, has been sidelined since and remains unfit.
The 28 year old is set to attend full training at the weekend for the first time and be observed before Kinnear makes a final decision, but he has suggested that Owen could get some match time under his belt.

"Michael Owen has not trained with us since his injury but will train tomorrow.

I would like to get Michael involved in one way or another.

But I'll have to look at him in training. If I have to put him on the bench then that's a possibility.

Michael is a predatory finisher and if you bring him on for 20 minutes then he could get a goal."

Bad move in my opinion.

He should be playing if he has yet to attend a full training session.

Can only feel that he is likely to get a set back and be out for even longer....

Agreed. This rushing of players back from injuries is ridiculous-and disturbing, as it's becoming habit for Kinnear. Not his fault, though-it's the direct result of an inane Summer transfer policy. Thanks, front office, you worthless d-bags.
