Police Speak To Ashley Over Beer
By Tyne-Talk September 1 2008
It's got to be said that when a club owner sits with the fans and breaks the law on drinking alcohol live in the club stadium live on television, someone is bound to complain. Unfortunately for Mr Ashley somebody with too much time on their hands, did indeed make that complaint and he was spoken to by the police and given some friendly "advice".
Ashley was seen consuming a pint in approximately 13 seconds at The Emirates on Saturday during Newcastle United's 3-0 defeat.

The Metropolitan Police released the following statement:

"We received a complaint from a member of the public during the Arsenal v Newcastle Premier League match.

Following this complaint a man received words of advice for consuming alcohol in a prohibited area."

A Newcastle United spokesman claimed Ashley believed he was drinking non-alcoholic beer, a product which is not sold at the stadium.

They said:

"Michael was offered a drink which he was told was non-alcoholic and he took it in good faith."

The plastic/no caps thing is in effect here in the states, but most areas in most sporting fields/arenas, you can drink all you like.
