Milner Move To Villa Complete
By Tyne-Talk August 29 2008
James Milner has become the 8th player to leave Newcastle United so far this summer and is now an Aston Villa player. The 22 year old handed in his transfer request on the 20th August after failing to have his wages brought in line with other first team players.
The request was officially announced by the club just days ago after Leeds Chairman Ken Bates revealed his club were looking at a sell on fee from a former player, causing increased speculation about Milner's imminent move.

The England under 21 International who signed a 4 year deal with Newcastle just last summer has once again put pen to paper and signed another 4 year deal, this time for Villa. Martin O'Neill who has had Milner in his sights after a successful loan season at the club is reported to have forked out between £10-12 million, but the official Newcastle United website is yet to disclose a fee. Either way it looks set to be double the £5 Newcastle paid to bring him from Leeds in 2004.

Milner is Martin O'Neil's 8th summer signing after completing a medical this morning and could make his debut against Liverpool in their televised match on Sunday.

Considering the sell-on fee, NUFC netted £2.2M for him. Faye brought in £2.5M, Rozenhal £2.9.

Of course not. We may have sold Milner to a club we're competing with but at least we can get excited about drawing at OT rather than our 20% of a transfer fee...[:wor kid:]

I don't understand this.. I'll admit I've never been the biggest fan of Milner's skill (ie. dribbling or crossing ability) but his work rate and fitness is phenomenal..
Now, hasn't KK said that he wants players with the right 'spirit' to play for his Newcastle.. Well Milner was the best example of 'spirit' the club had and KK decides to sell him.. ??!!
Oh well, hopefully we can get a quality replacement in.. Please no SWP or Dowling rumours, I don't have the stomach for it..
