Krul: "I Love Newcastle"
By Tyne-Talk July 22 2008
Newcastle's 20 year old goalkeeper Tim Krul has committed himself to the club, after he was rumoured to be under the watchful eye of Chelsea. Krul, who is expected to eventually replace Shay Given as the clubs first choice keeper, told the Evening Chronicle that he enjoys being at Newcastle but wouldn't rule out another loan spell as it will only make him a better player.
The Dutch under 21 International said:

"This is my club and I want to stay. You never know what can happen. Things can change in one day or in three years' time.

All I know is I love Newcastle and I love England. There's been a lot of speculation and a lot of stories. But it's just talk.

Going out on loan makes you a better player. It doesn't matter where you go.

I just hope to get my chance and prove myself to the manager.

We will see what happens in the next few weeks."

Someone's gonna have to be sold soon for this kid to ever have a shot at the first team. He's looked class in his appearances and could patrol between the sticks for the Toon for years to come. I hope he's given a shot to impress, sooner than later.

if he can be an understudy for a year or two, maybe have a loan spell somewhere half decent, a positive experience by his own admission,, he should then be competing for the first team. he's got a great attitude.

I'd get him out on loan as soon as possible, with Soderbergh and Forster reserves are sorted and he'll learn alot more playing in a league somewhere.

I could see Given retiring before Harper, just sayin'...

Maybe loan him to a Championship side?

Agreed.

If he could get some championship experience it would be a big boost for the lad.

And could help him push for a starting position. If we could loan him to a promoted premiership team even better.

I don't think he's proven enough even for PL relegation fodder. Derby were able to get Roy Carroll on a whim last season and while he wasn't stellar I think most sides would rather stake their hopes to a guy like that than an untested kid.
