7 NUFC Matches On TV Before December!
By Tyne-Talk
July 11 2008
Sky Sports have announced their initial televised fixtures and Newcastle United's opening day clash with Premier League Champions Manchester United will be their 3rd televised match of the season. The game will now take place in the 4pm Super Sunday slot directly after Portsmouth host Chelsea at lunchtime, instead of at 3pm on the Saturday.
Sky's 1st game of the season see's newcomers West Brom rise to the challenge when they visit the Emirates Stadium as the season kicks off on the Saturday.

It will be Manchester United's first of six televised games on Sky and 3 on Setanta ahead of the festive period. Chelsea (Sky 6 Setanta 2) Arsenal (Sky 5 Setanta 3) and Liverpool (Sky 5 Setanta 4) all join them with a lot of scheduled match coverage between 16th August and 31st November, Newcastle are due to have 7 televised matches in that period, United, Everton, Sunderland and Fulham on Sky and Arsenal, Manchester City and Villa on Setanta.

Managing Director of Sky Sports, Vic Wakeling said of the line up:

"We think this is our best start to a season in 17 years of Premier League football on Sky.

We see last season's top three on the first weekend - we see five Big Four head-to-heads - eight big derby matches - and, most important of all, all 20 clubs are live in the first four months of the season."

Good News that Newcastle will start their season with a bumper Sunday build up, but is the television scheduling really fair on the "smaller" clubs? For example on Sky, Hull City have just 1 scheduled match against Manchester City on the 16th November and 1 match on Setanta against Arsenal on 27th September.

Be aware that in order to show these matches on television fixtures will have changed from those published a few weeks back.

DATE FOR THE DIARY:

In addition to the above changes, Newcastle v Sunderland on January 31st has been moved from a 3pm KO to a 12pm KO at the request of the police.

TO ANYONE WITH SETANTA. phone them sayin u want to cancel and they'll offer u the next 3 months at half price. that's a fiver a month. i've done it twice in a row now. Gift.

i cant tell u how easy/difficult it is to ACTUALLY CANCEL, cross that bridge when i come to it. but there's no need to pay ten pounds a month that's for sure.

to anyone without setanta...
it'll cost 15 quid to set-up, then two months at 10 quid up front, then when you do decide to leave you must give 30 days notice AND PAY A FURTHER MONTH IF YOUR NORMAL PAYMENT DATE FALLS INSIDE THE £30 DAYS NOTICE YOU GAVE!!!!! which it will, of course. if you pay on the 5th of each month, and phone to cancel on the 15th, you will still pay in advance for the next month but only see ten days, cos you asked them to cut you off!

and forget ringing them, average wait to even discuss cancellation is over 45 minutes, then you get some call centre muppet trying to change your mind, then you get told to put it in writing before your 30 days notice can take effect!

Sounds like a nice place.

As for Setanta, seems like there's many problems people have with it, think I'll end up just finding a pub somewhere that's showing them.

Actually its a really nice place. Might be over the fence from the pub but it isnt a rowdy pub.

Thank god my local has dodgey greek channels.
I must have watched an extra 10 games on greek TV besides setanta and skysports last season.
Good thing is that it comes with english commentary too.
