Owen In Contract Talks
By Tyne-Talk

Newcastle United striker Michael Owen has confirmed talks are currently underway regarding a new contract which will see him stay at Newcastle past next summer. The England International discussed his contract, the team's ability and the impact the appointment of Kevin Keegan as manager has had on the club.
He also dismissed any rumours that he is unhappy at the club and looking for a summer move. He said:

"We've just opened contract talks, we are talking, I've got this season left regardless and we're working on a deal to hopefully stay longer. There'll probably be news in a month or two.

We've got a lot of good players. We haven't got a massive squad and we don't want size for the sake of size. I'm like any Newcastle supporter - I want the best players.

I'd like to think I am (back to my best). This last year I played fully without hiccups to my knee. That's well behind me now."

On Kevin Keegan he added:

"He's fantastic, I can only say I've been highly impressed and the whole place is buzzing again."
