Faye To Stay
By Tyne-Talk June 15 2008
Newcastle manager Kevin Keegan has praised defender Abdoulaye Faye as speculation of a move to Blackburn Rovers hit the rumour mill. Prior to Mark Hughes' switch to Manchester City there was increased talk of Faye moving away from Newcastle, however since Hughes left the club all transfer talk seems to have died down much to Keegan's relief.
Keegan has credited the 30 year old Senegal International with calming fellow defender Steven Taylor and helping the club secure 4 clean sheets in their 7 game unbeaten run towards the end of last season.

Keegan also knows that to lose another defender, after the release of Peter Ramage to QPR would hinder his attempts at strengthening the squad.

"I think the link-up has been very, very good. And I think Faye's been a calming influence on Steven (Taylor).

In fact, if you look back to the Sunderland game there was a danger that, because Steven was a local, he would get caught up in the excitement of it too much.

But credit to him, I though he gave a very mature display, and I think Faye played his part in that."

Re: Faye To Stay
This is very good news. Faye is quality, and in an area where we desparately need it.
