Mike Ashley To Replace Mort
By Tyne-Talk
June 12 2008
The Daily Mail are reporting that Mike Ashley, the man who promised to take a back seat in the running of the club is set to take full control and replace Chris Mort as the man behind the decision making, despite putting Derek Llambias, who joined the club at the beginning of May in the official role as Chairman.
Ashley is said to see this as the ideal solution to drawing the frontline staff closer to the boardroom staff after Keegan is reported to have requested a stronger working relationship when hauled into Ashley's London offices for "talks" as the season drew to a close just weeks ago.

The move will see billionaire Ashley overseeing all club transfers, fees and contracts. Mort who resigned as Chairman to return to his legal partnership has hinted at a return to the club in October.

I hear the pursestrings tightening already if this is the case, I hope there are some quality bargins to be had a transfer time because from all accounts Ash is not going to be splashing the cash.

This is completely unsourced speculation-and no one could ever prove whether it's true or not in any case. I'm not losing any sleep.
