Sad Day As Skipper Gives It Away
Brett Ratten
By Old Dark Navys July 16 2003
Carlton skipper Brett Ratten has announced his retirement while the 2003 season is still in progress due to the severity of his shoulder injury.
It is a shame that the tenacious Number 7 has been forced out of the game in such a way instead of playing out his last match in front of his adoring fans and a travesty that his rise to the top job at the club has coincided with the leanest of times for the proud Carlton Football Club.

On behalf of ODN we'd like to wish Brett the very best in his retirement and hopefully the young Blues will be gaining the benefits of his knowledge in an off field role for years to come.

Brett Ratten - Carlton Champion - WE SALUTE YOU!
