Graeme Smith
Hibs opened the scoring in the 6th minute when John Rankin left Bob Malcolm for dead before smashing a low shot past Graeme Smith from 18 yards. Also in the opening 20 minutes Smith had to be sharp to deny Derek Riordan twice when the former Celt was clean through.
Bob Malcolm pulled Well level just before the break with a stunning free kick from 20 yards leaving Yves Ma-Kalambay rooted to the spot.
Well weren't level for long as Shiels put Hibs ahead only five minutes after the break when he slotted past Smith after a fine four man move. The game was effectively over when Steven Fletcher smashed a first time shot high past Smith from 30 yards with just over an hour gone.
Hibs put the icing on the cake with a fourth goal in stoppage time when Riordan was giving too much time in the box before shooting low past Smith.
Mark McGhee said after the game, "It's as bad as it's been and I hope it's as bad as it gets.
"Since I've been here it was certainly the most disconnected performance. We looked like 11 individuals with no connection between us.
"The back four weren't communicating, everyone seemed to be in their own little world.
"We were particularly poor up front - we never kept the ball, never won a header and gave the rest of the team, who I am not making excuses for, no chance whatsoever."
