What a load of cobblers!

Ton in vain
By Jeremy Horne August 16 2005
A feeling of Deja-vu must have circled Lords today, as Paul Weekes hit a century on the losing side against Northampton for the second time this year.

Northamptonshire had previously taken advantage of Middlesex's depleated bowling attack, with Chris Wright playing in place of the rested Alan Richardson. Bilal Shafayat was the most brutal of the batsmen, scoring a remarkable 85 off just 46 deliveries. His plaform helped his side to an imposing 261-6, which began to look less testing when Weekes and Ed Smith started settling to the opening bowlers.

With the foundations laid, the rest of the batsmen failed to finish the job off and Weekes' dismissal with just over three overs left signalled that all hope was virtually gone. The 'sex ended up losing by 14 runs.

And the moral of the story is... if Weekes scores a century against Northants, Middlesex are in trouble!!
