Glamorgan's second inning was all about setting a target of around 400 in 80 overs for Middlesex. The acheived a lead of 405, with a score of 256/3 declared. Jonathan Hughes again did well, with 100 not out, He was assisted with 84 not out from Sourav Ganguly. Alan Richardson became the only bowler in the match to take 3 wickets in an innings (there was a total of 14 in the whole match), with 3-24 in 8 overs.
With a target of 406 to win, Middlesex survived the early loss of captain Ben Hutton who had to retire hurt with 7 runs to his name. But that pathed the way for an astonishing stand of 288 for the first wicket, with Ed Smith the first to be dismissed with 145, his first centary for Middlesex. Owais Shah hit 155, with 12 4s and four 6s. The dismissal of Smith brought Joyce to the crease who passed the 1,000 runs for the season with 70 not out. He was assisted in the later stages by Styris who was run out for 6, Jamie Dalrymple who hit 4 and Pathan, who came in to hit the winning boundary to seal an astonishing win.
