Day 2:

Ed Smith, the man rumoured to be Middlesex's captain next year continued to pile on the misery as he reached 189 before falling to Mel Betts. Walker finished the day 86 not out as Kent marched on to 473/6 at the close.

Day 1:

Middx had a bad start to their attempt to finish second in the County Championship, with only Jamie Dalrymple (52) scoring a half ton as they were bowled out for 235. In reply, Kent were 18/1 but recovered to 163/1 with Key (69*) and Smith (74*) the men in.
