Mushy humiliates Middlesex
By David Slater August 13 2004
A masterful bowling display for Mushtaq Ahmed destroyed Middx's hopes off a win as they crashed from to 155 all out with only Owais Shah (60*) and 19 from Simon Cook offering any resistance. Mushy took figures of 5-83, together with 3-37 from Kirtley & 2-30 from Akram in the 143 run win for Sussex.

Day 3:

A 5 wicket haul for Simon Cook set up a tense day 4 as Middlesex were set a target of 299 to win. Having scraped a bonus point reaching 212 all out, Cook lead the Middx bowling attack and Sussex were all out for 196. In reply Middx were 48/1, 251 short of the target.

Day 2:

Middlesex were struggling to get back in the game today having bowled Sussex out for 314. Whilst that might have seemed excellent considering the visitors were 252/2 at close last night, Middlesex then collapsed to 195/8 at close, Ed Joyce top scoring on 69.

Day 1:

An unbeaten 120 from Ward and 99* from Goodwin put Sussex in control at Lord's on a rain affected day. Play started at 1.55 and Middx made a good start with Simon Cook trapping Montgomerie lbw and Mel Betts removing Cottey to put Sussex 48/2. But the fight back made the score 252/2 at close.
