Scorpians lack sting
By David Slater July 12 2004
Middlesex secured a 9 wicket win against Derbyshire today with Paul Weekes (80*) and Nantie Hayward (4-21) guiding the Crusaders to 4 points. The victory came at a cost with Chad Keegan departing after 6 overs with back spasms, which could keep him out for the rest of the season.

The Derbyshire innings never got going despite a good stand from Adnan (57) and Taylor (29) but they never kept their composure enough and their score of 182/8 was too small to cause Middlesex problems.

Paul Weekes made the most of conditions hitting 80 not out. He was supported by Ben Hutton who was caught out on 34 after a silly shot, and by Andrew Strauss, making what has become a rare appearance for Middlesex, who hit 59, including the winning 4.
