DAY 3:
A record breaking triple century from Kiwi-Englishman Craig Spearman left Middlesex in trouble at the end of day 3 at Gloucester. Spearman plundered 40 fours and 6 sixes as he hit a momentous 341 off just 390 balls to confirm the batsman’s paradise nature of the King’s School wicket.
Misery was once again on the agenda for Middlesex as Spearman and Gloucester captain Chris Taylor continued from where they left off last night and extended their 3rd wicket stand to 283 as Taylor recorded a century of his own. Alex Gidman then weighed in with a useful half century and Steve Adshead scored an unbeaten 35 as Gloucestershire declared on 695-9.
The Middlesex 2nd innings began in disastrous fashion as both openers departed with only 21 on the board. But, Owais Shah and Ed Joyce shared in an unbroken 3rd wicket stand of 130, with both scoring half centuries. Middlesex now go into the final day requiring another 161 to make Gloucestershire bat again. The first session will therefore be vital as the ‘sex aim to built a platform in order to avoid back-to-back defeats.
DAY 2:
An unbeaten 208 from Craig Spearman put Gloucestershire in control on a batsmen's wicket at Gloucester. Having been bowled out for 383, the Middlesex bowlers had no response to a pitch that wouldn't co-oporate, allowing Gloucestershire to finish day 2 353/2.
DAY 1:
Lance Klusener proved himself an avid MTWD reader today, responding to his critics by hitting 62* of 51 to help Middx finish on 333/6 at Gloucester. Paul Weekes (50), Sven Koenig (45) and Jamie Dalrymple (49*) also chipped in with high scores and Middx will resume tomorrow hopeful of reaching 400+
