Dreams shattered
By Jeremy Horne September 22 2003
Middlesex's promotion dreams were brought to a halt after an astonishing batting collapse at the Riverside. After overnight rain had delayed the start Durham won the toss and put the 'sex in. Shoaib Akhtar and Neil Killeen then ripped our top order apart as we stumbled to an unbelievable 27-7.
Ben Hutton and Chad Keegan managed an 8th wicket stand of 80, bringing us back into the game, but a score of 112-9 from our 30 overs was always going to be below par. Durham then knocked off the runs for the loss of one wicket in under 16 overs.
