The Crusaders suffered a potentially fatal blow in their promotion bid this evening when they lost by 8 wickets to Sussex under the lights at Hove. Having chosen to bat first, the 'sex set a imposing total of 247/6. Weekes top scoring on 91.
Despite the lose of 2 early wickets the bowlers never stood a chance when Goodwin (118 n/o) and Adams (115 n/o) came together. 228 runs later the match was over, and unless Hampshire lose all their remaining games, so were Middlesex's chances of promotion
