Middlesex had been set a target of 146 for victory and things were not looking good when both openers were dismissed with only 26 on the board. The backbone of the innings was then provided by Owais Shah and Ben Hutton, who added 55 for the second wicket, before Notts fought back again, dismissing both men to leave the 'sex 87-4. Once again though, Middlesex took control as Ed Joyce and Paul Weekes added 27 to put us on the brink of victory, but 30 were still needed when both had fallen at 116-6. It was then left to Ashley Noffke and David Nash as the pair put on an unbroken 30 to see us through to a very important win.
DAY 3:
Nottinghamshire fought back towards the end of the 3rd day as an unbroken stand of 66 between Chris Read and Chris Cairns saw them to 160-5 at stumps, a lead of 136. Earlier, Middlesex were bowled out for 278 in their 1st innings.
DAY 2:
A tense battle was looming at Trent Bridge at the close of play on day two. Having bowled out Notts for 254, Middlesex were 198/6 at close of play. The next two days promise tense action with not much to seperate the two sides.
