Rain secures draw
By David Slater July 27 2003
Honnors ended even after another downpour caused the umpires to give up hope of a result. Earlier David Nash seemed set for a ton but his hopes went when Keegan was bowled out with Nashy on 96 not out. Needless to say he didn't love it. Sorry batted for a while and were 94/0 when the rain came.
Day 3

No play today; rain.

Day 2

Middx had a productive day today despite a Tubby Ormond hatrick and Razzaq batting with a runner. Having finally bowled Sorry out for 411, the 'sex were motoring at 161/1 but then it went wrong as Ormond got 4 wickets in an over. However a great recovery led by Razzaq and Nash left the 'sex on 346/8

Day 1
Middlesex beat Sorry in the lunch break game by an innings and 24 runs after an assured performance from Kev and myself. In the Mickey Mouse cricket, sorry closed the day on a disappointing 375-9, after being put into bat. Chad Keegan, Simon Cook and Ashley Noffke all took 3 wickets each.

The stage was set for a mouthwatering contest as Ben Horne, George Beechey (who plays club cricket) and a Judas fan took on the might of Barmy Kev and myself. After winning the toss we elected to field, in a match that lasted two innings per side with a maximum of five overs per innings. Tight bowling saw the brown hats score just 9 runs in their first two overs before a daft run out saw the end of Beechey. A couple of balls later, I had Ben clean bowled to leave Sorry all out for 9.

Our reply was more assured than spectacular and we scored runs freely. I was out off the first ball of the final over, stumped off Ben after looking for quick runs, whilst Kev was run out off the last ball of the innings with the 'sex on 42.

Needing 33 to avoid an innings defeat, Sorry's 2nd innings was absolute carnage as they slid to just 9 all out again, in less than two overs. Both wickets fell to run outs as the 'sex secured a simple victory.

Back in the Mickey Mouse match, both Sorry openers were beautifully clean bowled as the home side struggled to 20-2. Things could have been much worse had Judas been dismissed first ball, but Ben Hutton was unable to reach a difficult short leg catch. Judas was also given another life as Paul Weekes dropped a dolly catch at 2nd slip.

Together with Graham Thorpe (that loyal Englishman), Judas put on 93 for the 3rd wicket before Simon Cook took three wickets in as many overs to leave Sorry struggling at 131-5. That quickly became 210-5 as Rikki Clarke punished Middlesex's off stump bowling line with some crisp cover drives. The fact that Abdul Razzaq had been off the field since lunch also didn't help. Middlesex weren't to be outdone though as more fluctuating fortunes saw Chad Keegan remove Alex Tudor and Martin Bicknell, to put the lions back in trouble at 232-7. However, a half-century partnership between Clarke and Ian Sainsbury's (40) changed things around again.

Ashley Noffke did eventually manage to dismiss both Clarke and Sainsbury's, but, as usual, Middlesex found it hard to take the final wicket as Jimmy Ormond and Saqlain Mushtaq put on an unbroken stand of 53, with the last ball of the day going over long off for six.
