Middx seal dramatic win
By David Slater July 12 2003
Middlesex sealed a dramatic win after being set a run chase of 163 in 27 overs. They acheived this in 24 with Andy Strauss not out on 73. Earlier in the day Leicestershire were bowled out for 335
Day 3
Jez was too lazy to do a report today. Honestly you go away for a few days and look what happens *rolls eyes*

Day 2
A stunning display from Ben Horne saw his wallet make a rare outing at the Pavilion bar, as he offered to buy a round of drinks. Meanwhile in the cricket, three late wickets from Chad Keegan will give Middlesex hope of forcing a win, but a draw is still the likely result on a flat Southgate track.

The day saw three centurions, the first of which was Ed Joyce who brought up his 3 figures with a straight 6 before being bowled by Jeremy Snape for 102. It was then left to Nash and Weekes, who added a further 91 for the 7th wicket, taking Middlesex past 500. Weekes was also involved it a controversial boundary decision when he appeared to hit the ball over the ropes for 6, but was awarded 4 as the ball hit part of a tree which was inside the rope.

Everyone expected a declaration when Weekes reached his century, but when he was dismissed for 75, the 'sex continued to bat on showing no urgency as Nash played for his century and Dalrymple for his average. Eventually, Nash did reach his ton and the belated declaration came.

Leicestershire's reply began with a blitz as Middlesex reject John Maunders and Indian star Virender Sehwag tore the Middlesex attack apart. Sehwag, who at one point was being outscored by his partner, reached a fine 92 ball century, whilst Maunders was only on 35.

Keegan's late burst saw both openers fall along with Darren Maddy as Leicestershire closed on 221-3, but on this wicket avoiding the follow-on seems like a foregone conclusion.

Other highlights on a boring day included the main event- Ben's round. The sorry man was also in action on the field as his throwing arm was requested twice in two balls at the start of the Leicester innings- one of his throws going completely over Ed Joyce's head. Barmy Kev's contribution to the day was also not forgotten as he dished out abuse to several Leicestershire players. After Rupesh Amin let the ball go straight through his legs, Kev requested that the Sorry reject "close his legs", whilst he also gave abuse to Matt Whiley who bowled a whole over of deliberate bouncers. Kev didn't even stop there- he also offered Ashley Noffke some beer and Red wine whilst the Australian was in the Middle of a bowling spell. Surprisingly, the offer was declined.

DAY 1:

We made the most of the profitable conditions and Strauss led the way with a majestic knock of 147, before he was eventually caught behind off Rupesh Amin after a knock that spanned 290 minutes and 240 deliveries.
