After an appalling start, warched remotely from Barmy Kev, our OBE's were outdone by our NBE's Our debutant Malan, Morgan, Scott and shoddy Northants fielding turned it round. 20/20 ir wasn't but another good day for Middlesex it was. Please read on

Early Wath

Due to domestics at home. couldn't make start. But when switched on to start through wonders of technology  discovered Middlesex languishing on eight for two as Johannes van der Wath ( typical Northants name) took out our OBE batters.  My next update was 15-3 as Billy the Kid out. Seemed like business as usual. As the slow Met line journey was taking me to Uxbridge, Ed Joyce went for 21, 36-4   This after us winning the toss electing to bat from a Teletext seaming wicket. When at Eastcote  I was hoping to arrive by start of Northants innings.  When arrived was told Malan and Morgan turning it around 

 This Not 20/20

 As arrived at ground and applauded simple Monty stop on my own. No music after a four and when Lucas misfielded yet again, no contribution to my circus chants I realised back to staid atmosphere. 

So focus on  Morgan and Malan who looked in control. Morgan added 66 before plumb LBW and umpires finger was up in no time. After the 121 stand at this stage honours even

Meanwhile the discussion amongst Turkey's was who was going to South Africa game next week.  Until someone pointed out having seen South Africa 2nd X1 today, why bother?

St Dawid's day  

After a dodgy start Scott made 50, then carelessly gave wicket away after 115 put on for wicket.

Malan made his way to a ton without giving a chance. The discussion amomgst Turkey's who was last debutant to achieve this feat. (answers on a postcard). He was still there at the end on 121 as Middlesex closed on 317-7. This a superb position considering our poor start.

Conclusion 

Wicket appeared to improve as day went on, between home domestics , Met line and arriving at ground.. Has draw wrirtten over it given our four man reserve attack. But now let's honour our debutant St Dawid. "The only  ton in the village."

Nice report Kev.

It really brings home to me how much I love cricket for its diversity.

I make no apologies for the fact that I enjoyed our win at Uxbridge against Kent on Tuesday. I worked a whole day, I journeyed to Uxbridge, I watched a whole cricket match with some rapid ebb and flow and even the right result, I met some nutters.

A day of CC cricket is so very different - I couldn't even attend this particular day but I did follow a fair bit of it on the Internet Radio and I am still wallowing in the tide of it. That utterly lousy start and the wonderful turnaround. Musing on the overnight position and how different it might have been (either way). Contemplating what tomorrow might bring to this match.

I love cricket in all its forms but this CC cricket is simply delightful. If you are a Twenty20 newbie trying to get your head round it I have just one word of advice - "persevere" - it will be worth it.
