Miller & Reid Earn Call
By Ade O`Connor November 7 2003
Celtic star Liam Miller and Nottingham Forest maestro Andy Reid have earned call-ups to the full Ireland squad to play Canada on Tuesday November 18. The pair has graduated from the under 21 side and Brian Kerr now feels they can go on to make a name for themselves at the top level.
Kerr must look to fresh faces in the squad following Ireland crashing out of Euro 2004 qualifying. The Irish side went down 2-0 in Switzerland, in a game they needed to win to get into the play-offs.

Miller has been in electric form for Celtic, as the Scottish side impress in both the domestic league and in Europe. The midfielder was on the score sheet against Anderlecht on Wednesday night and put in a man of the match performance.

Andy Reid has improved tenfold since breaking into the Forest side last Christmas, this season netting many times as well as providing magical moments all over the field. ‘Little Figo’, as Forest fans know him, scored a sensational goal against West Ham at Upton Park recently.

Elsewhere in the squad, Rory Delap of Southampton gets a chance to impress after finally seeing the back to his injury nightmare. Graham Kavanagh of Cardiff City is also handed the opportunity to put his name in the mind of Kerr.

There is no place for Mark Kinsella of Aston Villa however, Kerr did not rule out a recall for the midfielder in later games, commenting that his experience may be vital. Many felt that Kinsella had made his swansong in Bern, but this may not be the case.

Kenny Cunningham returns from suspension and Stephen McPhail, currently playing for Nottingham Forest, retains his place in the squad. Murphy (West Brom) keeps his place as third choice goalkeeper.
