Boro take no points home from Fratton Park

Diarra and O'Neil.

As a Boro fan it's difficult to know whether to be frustrated after yesterdays defeat at Fratton Park, or optimistic after gaining six points in the first four matches when we are used to such dire starts to the season. It's fair to say that against Portsmouth the best team won on the day and the unfortunate timing of the injuries to Mido and Digard only compounded our problems.

While the scoreline was the same as the Liverpool game, there is perhaps not the same feeling of being robbed that came out the trip to Anfield. There was always a worry that our lightweight and young team may struggling in grueling matches against athletic, and robust teams such as Portsmouth and this appears to be the case. While its early days you wonder if the home matches will be vital to us this season with a good support helping to spur the team on.

Nevertheless it is still early days, and we have seen promising signs from Emnes and particularly Dider Digard already who are still adjusting to the rigours of the Premier League. Hopefully a tough away trip to Sunderland next week will turn out prosperous, and keep the signs of what is potentially a good season alive after this somewhat disappointing away loss.

I think you're right. Didn't see the game with working away. It's a reasonable start to the season. Not spectacular as we'd hoped - but don't we always. The injuries are the main worry now. We should be good enough to get points at Sunderland. But who'll play in centre midfield?

Reading the Boro Website it seems that our injury list isn't as bad as it sounded. Shame about Tuncay and a real shame about Rhys Williams.

Wheater may not be all that well - but playing him at right back may not be such a bad option. I hope Hoyte settles, but so far he's not Luke Young.

C'mon Boro.
