Great Victory
Well done Blackpool FC for the recent win over Plymouth Argyle, Liam Dickinson on the score sheet twice; to see a superb comeback by Blackpool FC. However I am amazed by a lack of intelligence from some of our fans following this win. Dickinson is been treated like a saviour by some, however that opinion in my mind is short sighted. Now I’m not trying to offend these brain dead morons so I shall try to explain my point.
Larry's recent loan signings represent a short term fix to long term problems. I will tackle the up front scenario. Up front we need a player who can get 25 goals a season, Dickinson maybe the answer to that. However we will never ever be able to sign him permanently. So people going over the top over his signings are obviously idiots and Grayson apologists.
To sign Dickinson, we would need at least £750,000; the price Derby paid for him and we would probably have to make him our highest paid player. The player himself believes he has a future at Derby and as so many other loan players in the past. He will try to use Blackpool as a stepping stone. After all Derby are a much bigger and better club, they have a massive stadium and are a Premier League club in the Championship, whilst we are a league one side punching above our weight.
To move to Blackpool would represent a massive lack of ambition by the player and whilst that seems harsh it’s true. On our part it would be a massive investment and a massive signal of ambition by the club. But I reckon if Larry had £750k at his disposal he would prefer to buy three players instead of one and in doing so he wouldn't repair the structural damage upfront.
The best we can hope for is to sign the player on loan for the rest of the season in January. Enjoy the goals folks but he'll be off unless Oyston flashes the cash. We need to stop relying on loan players, they use us a stepping stone and it's only a temporary fix. It's not progress it's turbulence and it's not enjoyable, its the same old, same old boring Blackpool cheapo ways.
Now I will respond to some comments that were made on the message board following my last article. The first comment came from a new user called "sbward1975" the number not been his IQ unfortunately.
He wrote, "Dear Mr. x, many thanks for your informed and professional opinion and congratulations on your successful lobotomy. I have drawn 2 conclusions from your recent rant you either reside at ward 28 Blackpool Vic or are pke fan. My beloved Blackpool FC are, and have been punching well above their wait for at least 3 years now. Simon Grayson is without doubt an outstanding prospect and i unfortunately expect him to land a “big” job sooner rather than later. The man has worked miracles in the time he has been at the helm and you clearly have no clue about the financial power of the established championship clubs we face week in week out. Like it or hate it we are little fish in a bloody big pond and with the resources available I am delighted with our start to the season. Simon Grayson has a very tight budget on wages let alone transfer fees and lets not blame Karl these are simple economics of business you cant spend what you don’t have!!!! get off Grayson back he has a difficult enough job as it is".
Now you are obviously a mutant and this is obvious by the insults you aim at me before even making a point to your argument. I do think though you may have a point, on how Grayson is destined to land a "big" job. You see the premiership is quite negative and Grayson style of play would fit in perfect.
One thing that did striker me about your post is how appalling your spelling and grammar is, mine isn't the best but at least I have the decency to make an effort (I’ve polished it up for you here). Grayson doesn't have a difficult job as you put it, if you think that then your living in a dream world. The soldiers in Iraq have a hard job, the police have a hard job, the paramedics and fire-fighters in this country have a hard job. Grayson does not; he plays real life football manager and the hardest it gets it picking the cones up after training.
Then Seaside Steve left a pearl of a comment. "Mr X! You first class idiot, Grayson is doing a fine job, and you are letting our recent poor form cloud your judgement. As for loyalty over progress with Grayson the two must go hand in hand. About time Grayson gave him a massive contract."
First of all, could all these people who respond please do so by not starting with an insult. It really shows you up and proves I’m right. Anyway you say I've allowed our poor form to cloud my judgement, which I doubt. We're on course to finish lower in the league then we did last season. How is that progress? January will make or break Larry and he will have to live and die by his mistakes. Let’s hope he learns how to sign decent players on full time details.
I'll be signing up for the message boar0064 this week and will be online on Wednesday evening if you wish to fire questions at me. See you then.
MR X
