Is this Devaney's destiny
Finally! Rejoice, as there is hope! Maybe, just maybe, Blackpool have found a release clause to work in our favour. However, noises coming out of Barnsley about Martin Devaney, stating that even if Blackpool do meet the fee doesn’t mean he has to leave, raises questions over the transfer of the man Devaney may replace, Wesley Hoolahan.
Devaney started his career at Cheltenham, where he soon broke into the first team, and he made over 200 appearances for the Robins, scoring 37 goals, before earning a move to Watford in their promotion season to the Premier League. However, he couldn’t break into the first team and was soon farmed out to Barnsley, making him one of a select few to have represented all three clubs promoted via the playoffs in the 2005/2006 season.
Move commonly know at Oakwell as Disco, the winger, who can play on either flank, has a £150,000 release clause. However, according to boss Simon Davey, even if Pool meet the price, Devaney will not be allowed to leave on the cheap.
Should Devaney join the Tangerines then the Seasiders may have finally got what they have looked for since Martin Bullock. A quick-footed winger who knows when to pass and when to move on. Also known for his ability to cross well, the winger will be well remembered for supplying the cross for Kayode Odejayi to score the winning goal against Chelsea in the FA Cup.
