Subject of Speculation!
Anyway as promised the first piece in this series features Kaspars. The defender who reportedly has a release clause, much like Wes, has been linked to a whole host of clubs. But which is the best move for him?
Glasgow Rangers: Well theres performing in front of 50,000 people for a starters and the chance of champions league football. But at the Ibrox he will be struggling for a game and whilst he's been linked to Rangers, I feel there after someone more established. However if an offer did materialise I think Kaspars would jump ship straight away.
Move Rating: ***1/2 due to the lack of first team prospects.
Burnley: Some will joke that Gorkss wouldn't move to a third world place after just escaping one. But at Burnley he has great first team prospects and would instantly command a place. He wouldn't have to move from his home at the moment as Burnley isn't that far away and even if he did house prices are cheaper in Burnley!
He has the chance to play in front of 22,000 and there is a slight chance of premiership football if Burnley land a place in the play offs next time, which I wouldn't bet against even if they are all inbred dingles!
Move Rating: **** Burnley are the team I fancy him to move to, if he is to move anywhere.
Watford: This was probably paper talk but Watford were said to want his services around Christmas. However now there in the Play Offs and could possibly be promoted I think the chances of this move are slim.
He would have to move a considerable distance as he would with most of these moves away. But he maybe prepared to uproot for the chance of Premiership football or to be part of the constant Championship top six. Training facilities and ground I would imagine are better then ours, I just don't see this move happening!
Move Rating: *** Well if they come in for him they'll have obviously stayed in this division and I don't see Gorkks uprooting to stay in the same division Which is why Burnley move seems attractive. He would have an increased wage but does that compensate for struggling for a place on the bench? We don't think so.
Everton: Calm Down! Clam Down! Possibler just paper talk again but David Moyes likes defenders and may fancy giving Gorkss ago. Plus he's a nobber at heart and may do it to ruin are survival chance next season!
In all seriousness Everton would be a brilliant move, 40,000 screaming scousers and that's just on your council estate street, brilliant training facilities, lots of money, UEFA Cup Football and the constant push to finish 4th!
But again, first team prospects are limited especially at a big club like Everton. But with Merseyside been a short drive from the Fylde the money may sway him as he can stay put.
So Move Rating is: *** No realistic first team chances, but more money and no having to house makes it attractive. Especially as there maybe a chance for him as soon as there is an injury or suspension. But again he would just be a squad player!
Finally what about him staying put? Well he's a hero here, he has a short drive to work and could possibly walk it if he wanted. As long as Val's here, he will be able to get a private jet back to Latvia when he needs it and he will be a first team constant. Another season in this league is what he needs before he can make the step up, the same thing with Wes really and although I can see Kaspars leaving for Burnley, I think there's an outside chance he will stay put.
Staying put rating: ***3/4
