A Corporate County?
By Grockle October 11 2008
It's the winter of our first year without the Stragglers. My own thoughts have started to move to the activites of the 2008 season and what it might mean in the new world of money and marginalisation. Are we losing bits of the old County ground at the same time that we are losing sight of what cricket is supposed to be? Is Somerset going corporate? Has it already happened? More..

Somerset Headlines

Lancs or Champs?
Andy Caddick has the opportunity to do something really special to cap his brilliant career. He can help his county beat Lancashire and hope it is enough to pass Notts and take the CC1 trophy.
Blackwell sets Baselines
Ian Blackwell, Somerset batsman and spinner shows the reason why he is an integral part of the county setup with a vital unbeaten century on Day 2 of this important game.
Is this it? Scarborough
A strange time to be playing cricket in Scarborough but here we are and this is a major game of 2008 as we stand so close to the Championship trophy. Arul Suppiah is drafted in for this one.
Points in the 'Pool?
After strange selection decisions in the last CC1 game some did think Mr Langer might consider Blackwell for this one day game. Not to be however, Mark Turner does keep his place in the squad.
Durham Do or Die
This is it people. We do better than Durham here or we say goodbye to Championship hopes. Justin has decided the spinners will be our match winners and Andrew Caddick has been left out! Don't ask me
Tie up the loose ends....
Biggest game of the season? Some would say so and many would be right. We're struggling if we don't do some damage to the leaders in this game.

Somerset Poll

The Final PoM of the year. Who is Player of the Month for August into September 2008?
