Denn's The Man For The Saddlers

Scott Dann
By David Penniall February 6 2007
The Saddlers goal scoring hero Scott Dann reflects on his equalising strike against an in form Rochdale side, to earn Richard Money's men a valuable point.
The youngster took on about 5 players before scoring a cracking 20 yard effort into the bottom corner to earn Richard Money’s men a valuable point when the game seemed to be going against Walsall without any hope of scoring that equalising goal.

The 19 year-old told the clubs office website (www.saddlers.co.uk): -
"I just saw the space open up in front of me and thought, 'Why not?'," he said. "I didn't strike the ball as cleanly as I wanted to but thankfully it managed to find its way into the corner of the net.

"It was easily the best goal that I have scored out of the five so far this season, but I will take any that come my way.

"We were by no means at our best on Saturday, so to take a point out of what was a tough game could end up proving vital. We knew that Rochdale were coming here in good form and full of confidence, but every game at this stage of the season is going to be difficult.

"As a team we didn't reach the standards that we have set ourselves. We know that some days we are not going to play as well as others, but at least we have taken something from this game.

"Teams are going to come here and make life hard for us, that said, we have a good squad and now we look forward to our next game at Hartlepool."
