Team News: Walsall v Rochdale

Rochdale
By David Penniall February 5 2007
After an impressive 2-0 victory in midweek against Macclesfield Town, The Saddlers return to Bescot Stadium tomorrow in search of another 3 points against Rochdale.
Manager Richard Money will be without long-serving central defender, Ian Roper who for yet another game after injuring his knee against Boston United last week and Allan Picken not been back to gull fitness, we can expect Anthony Gerrard to slot in at centre-back and replace Ropes’ again.

The Saddlers top goal scorer Martin Butler has overcame his sickness, which forced him to be substituted after just 15 minutes against Macclesfield Town on Tuesday and midfielder Darren Wrack continues with his comeback after coming through 90 minutes during that midweek game.

Walsall are expected to line up with, Clayton Ince in goal, with Chris Westwood, Anthony Gerrard, Scott Dann and Daniel Fox across the back, in midfield Darren Wrack, Craig Pead, Michael Dobson and Dean Keates who bagged himself a couple of goals in midweek with Martin Butler and Hector Sam upfront.

Rochdale find themselves stuck in a relegation battle and placed in 18th in the League 2 table and after an impressive 5-0 victory over promotion chasing MK Dons last week they will be coming into the game full of confidence.

With a busy January transfer window, Rochdale manager, Keith Hill has managed to bring in the following players Kelvin Etuhu (on loan from Man City), Adam Le Fondre (on loan from Stockport), Reuben Reid (on loan from Plymouth) and Lewis Edge (on loan from Blackpool), they have also signed David Perkins, Rory Prendergast and Charlie Comyn-Platt.

Le Fondre mad his mark with two goals against the MK Dons last week and fellow new boys Etuhu and Prendergast also got on the score sheet and are all expected to start for Rochdale.
