Royce finally puts pen to paper

Gillingham goalkeeper Simon Royce has finally put pen to paper on a one year extension ahead of Gillingham's push to get straight back into League One at the first time of asking next season. The Gills 'keeper won Player of the Season recently, and his performances between the sticks this season making some crucial saves were key in taking The Gills' relegation battle to the final day.

The thirty-six-year-old's season came to a premature end this season due to an ankle injury, and was forced to watch The Gills' demise to League Two from the stands. 

Royce signed permanently at Priestfield in the summer having impressed during a loan spell at the end of last season, and has gone onto make thirty-six appearances for The Gills, becoming a fan's favorite in the process.

It puts to end a long nervous wait for Gillingham fans for the 'keeper to sign as Gillingham chairman Paul Scally has been busy out of the country.
