I've said this before elsewhere, but if he gets 400-500 runs and 30-40 wickets from his first season I'd be very happy with that. It's great that he's setting himself such hard targets, which reflect both his talent and ambition, but lets not put to much pressure on his shoulders yet.
To put his 800-900 run 50 wicket target in context: No Yorkshire spinner has taken more than 40 championship wickets in a season for over a decade (I think Stemp took 41 in 91 or 92), and the following are what some great Yorkshire all-rounders of the past would have returned from a 16 match season, based on thier end of career stats for the club.
G.Hirst 715 runs, 55 wickets
W.Rhodes 563 runs, 65 wickets
R.Illingworth 483 runs, 46 wickets
B.Close 676 runs, 29 wickets
S. Haigh 343 runs, 58 wickets
F.S. Jackson 802 runs, 39 wickets
So 800-900 runs and 50 wickets would put young Adil pretty high up that list. (of course these targets may be for all cricket this coming season rather than just CC)
