McGrath Still To Decide

McGrath still appears unsettled and has yet to commit himself to Yorkshire for 2007. Chief executive Stewart Regan said that dialogue would continue after Tuesday's meeting of the management board. It is unclear whether the management board will be asked to approve improvements to McGrath's contract. Yorkshire want McGrath to honour the two years still to run on his current, but are keen for McGrath to be happy and under no duress.

The length of time it is taking to resolve matters, however, indicates that McGrath still feels unsettled, even though David Byas will have no control over professional cricket should he accept his new role as head of cricket development. New captain Chris Adams, who will take up full-time duties at Headingley Carnegie Stadium next month, is now in charge of all professional cricket at the club.

Meanwhile, Yorkshire have targetted their second overseas player for next season and are just awaiting his signature before revealing his name. This site understands that the player concerned is not Jason Gillespie.
