Champs League: Arsenal, Manchester United, Celtic
By Betting Zone November 1 2006
Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger felt cheated after his side's 1-0 defeat away to CSKA Moscow a fortnight ago and says his side will therefore have added motivation to gain revenge on the Russians on Wednesday.

Thierry Henry had what appeared to be a legitimate late equaliser ruled out for a phantom handball, but in truth it would have been a point the Gunners barely deserved.

And punters will do well to remember that before piling into Henry and co at prices around 4/11.

CSKA caused Arsenal's defence all sorts of problems that night and they could well have been out of sight by the time Henry found the net.

Wenger has already described CSKA as the best Russian side for several years and their results are proving that.

That victory two weeks ago lifted the Moscovites top of Group G and they have yet to concede a goal in five Champions League games (including two qualifiers) this season.

Russian sides may not have been the best travellers over the years, but it would be wrong to assume that a simple change of venue will be enough to reverse the result.

Arsenal are still settling in at the Emirates Stadium and it's hardly been all plain sailing there so far.

Aston Villa, Middlesbrough and, most recently, Everton have all thwarted the Gunners there so far (all left with a point).

Wenger was left moaning about Everton's negative tactics at the weekend, but it doesn't take a genius to work out if you try to go toe-to-toe with Arsenal you are asking for trouble - just ask Reading.

That point won't be lost on Valery Gazzaev, whose side have already shown their defensive solidity, not only against Arsenal but also in those other CL games.

Therefore the way to go in this one looks to be on the Asian handicaps.

CSKA (+1.25) are 41/40 wth bet365. A draw sees a full pay out, while a one-goal win for Arsenal still earns a profit at half the odds.

The odds on another CSKA clean sheet also look tempting at 11/2.

However, with Arsenal usually able to find the net at home - all those aforementioned draws have been 1-1 - we'll leave this alone.

Manchester United and Celtic are the other British sides in action.

United should have few problems away to a poor FC Copenhagen side but their odds are prohibitive at 1/2.

Celtic look more of a proposition, but they have the weight of history against them.

They have yet to win an away game in the Champions League - and this is their fourth campaign.

In fact they've lost nine of the 10 games they've played away from Parkhead in this competition, hence Benfica's odds-on quote.

However, the Bhoys have been pretty impressive in Group F so far, winning against Copenhagen and Benfica - 3-0 in the reverse fixture.

They were also slightly unfortunate to leave Old Trafford on the wrong end of a 3-2 scoreline, so it's certainly possible that duck could be broken in Lisbon, scene of the club's famous 1967 European Cup triumph.

The Portuguese really weren't up to much at Parkhead two weeks ago and will need to improve considerably on that performance to justify their odds-on quotes.

Gordon Strachan's side know a win will almost certainly put them into the knockout stages for the first time, so the 10/3 looks worth a nibble.

Finally, we turn to Lyon, who look our bankers of the evening.

The French side have been rock-solid in the Champions League for several years now and it seems only a matter of time before they make a serious impact on the tournament.

They've won three out of three so far in this competiton, including a home win over Real Madrid, scoring eight goals in the process while conceding none. Throw in their Ligue 1 record and it's now 13 straight wins for Gerard Houllier's men.

With whipping boys Dynamo Kiev arriving at the Stade Gerland, it looks to be a case of how many, so for us it's about finding the right market to produce a profit.

The best way to go looks to be a play on the Asian handicaps.

Lyon (-1.75) are 4/5. A two-goal win will pay out at half the odds, but we expect a rout.

Kiev have shipped 12 goals in three games so far and lost the reverse fixture 3-0. For those still not convinced, a look further back shows they have managed just two draws from their previous 16 away games in this competition.

It would be no surprise to see that 3-0 scoreline matched or surpassed given Lyon's form, so wade into this bet.

Critics may suggest that Lyon can win this one without their full side, but Houllier says this won't happen, describing the match as "crucial" and saying it was "very important" to top the group.

Also in this match, consider backing Juninho to net at any time.

The Brazilian free-kick master has been firing in the goals this season from his midfield role - he has six already - and found the net in the sides' previous encounter.

There is simply no better dead-ball specialist around, while he'll also get forward plenty in open play - especially against weak opposition such as this.

William Hill's 15/8 looks fair and worth a small play.

A GUARANTEED PROFIT ON LENS v OSASUNA

It's the second round of Uefa Cup group games on Thursday night with Lens taking on Osasuna and we can guarantee you a profit on the match, whatever the result.

You won't be able to do this if you already have accounts with one or more of the bookies we are using for this bet but if that is the case, mail us and let us know which accounts you have and we'll send you an alternative bet.

What we are going to do is back the draw with Premier Bet in the hope of gathering a decent win. We are also going to back both Lens and Osasuna so that we ensure that we end up in profit on this bet, whatever the result. Read on and you will find out how.

We're going to lay out a total of £145.00 on the match and we will collect £185.10 if it's a draw. If either side collect three points, we will get all our money back. Whatever the result, we will also gain a £25.00 free bet.

Here's how it's done. Just follow these simple instructions.

1. Open accounts with Premier Bet and Totesport and Extrabet. This shouldn't take you any longer than ten minutes.

2. Make the following deposits into your new accounts. Deposit £54.00 into your new Premier Bet account. Deposit £66.00 into your new Totesport account. Deposit £25.00 into your new Extrabet account.

3. Now make the following bets.

Place £54.00 on the draw at 3.10 (19/9) with Premier Bet.

Place £66.00 on Lens at 6/5 with Totesport

Place £25.00 on Osasuna at 12/5 with Extrabet

You have temporarily laid out a total of £145.00. I stress, temporarily... Now sit back, crack a beer open and enjoy the match.

4. Here's what happens at the end of the game.

If it's a draw, you will collect £185.10 from Premier Bet, including your stake back and your first win bonus. This money can be withdraw immediately.

Premier Bet pay a bonus if your first bet is a winner which is tiered according to the odds. So with this bet you will collect the following if it's a draw.

£114.00 winnings plus a 15% bonus of £17.10 plus your £54.00 stake back which equals £185.10.

If Lens win, you will collect £145.20 from Totesport

If Osasuna, you will collect £145.00 from Extrabet.

As with Premier Bet, Extrabet also pay a bonus on your first bet. What they do is match your first bet up to £25.00 so if it's a draw, you will collect the following:

£60.00 winnings, plus £60.00 winnings from your free matched bet plus your £25.00 stake back which equals £145.00.

Totesport will then credit your new account with a £25 free bet, whatever the result of the match.

5. This means that the worst case scenario on the Lens v Osasuna match is Osasuna win and you get all your money back plus a free £25.00 bet. But if it's a draw, you make £40.10 clean profit plus a free £25.00 bet.

Please feel free to contact us if you have any questions at all about this bet and we will come straight back to you.

Please note that the free bets and bonuses are valid for new customers only so if you already have an account with one or more of the bookies we are using, you won't be able to do this. If that is the case, contact us and we'll mail you an alternative bet using different bookies.

This method of betting was used very successfully during the World Cup and you can read all about how it was done right here.

It's understandable that some people will not believe that it is possible to do this. "What's the catch?" I hear you asking. My answer to that question is that we have been publishing arbitrage bets for three seasons now and literally hundreds of people have profited from following the advice on these pages.

Just enjoy the profit and stay posted for many more of these throughout the season.
