Weekend Championship and Football League Preview
By Betting Zone October 29 2006
Ken Bates has turned to his trusted ally Dennis Wise to pull Leeds out of the dire situation they find themselves in at present, and the former Chelsea and England midfielder can start his Elland Road managerial career with a win against Southend on Saturday.

At the press conference to announce Wise as Leeds' new manager he spoke about getting his new squad of players to be nasty and clinical if they are to pull themselves from near the foot of the table, a position Wise can't work out why they are in.

The demise of Leeds has been spectacular this season and the period that saw John Carver take the caretaker role following the sacking of Kevin Blackwell, has to go down as one of the darkest periods in the club's entire history.

Carver held high hopes of getting the job on a full-time basis and a 3-2 win over Birmingham enhanced his claims even further, only for those claims to be blown away as Leeds went on to lose their next five games, conceding a woeful 18 goals in the process!

Last weekend's 5-1 defeat at Luton highlighted how low confidence was in the camp and this was rocked even further by a 3-1 defeat to Saturday's oppenents Southend in the Carling Cup in midweek.

However, a new man is in charge now and Wise has wasted little time in aking changes, stripping Paul Butler of the captaincy and giving the amband to midfielder Kevin Nicholls.

Wise has been joined at Elland Road by former Chelsea teammate Gus Poyet and after making a success of the short time they were in charge of windon,Leeds fans will be hoping the duo make an instant impact on Saturday.

Every player will have a point to prove on Saturday and with the squad that Wise has at his disposal it must only be a matter of time before they start to climb the table and, they can begin that by seeing off a Southend team that are far from world beaters.

The Shrimpers are on the same points as Leeds and sit just one place above them in 22nd and a long, hard season looks on the cards for Steve Tilson and his men.

Away from home they have picked up just two points from a possible 18 on offer, and it's fair to say that the Leeds side they face this Saturday will e a little bit more up for it than the one they turned over in midweek in front of a dismal crowd of just over 10,000.

More fans will be there on Saturday to hopefully see the start of a bright, new era and with Wise looking to ruffle a few feathers from the start, get on the Whites at even money to pick up their first win in six.

Dropping into League One and Nottingham Forest should be backed at 11/10 to get the better of struggling Cheltenham at Whaddon Road.

Colin Calderwood's side picked up a superb 1-0 win over title rivals Bristol City last weekend to move five points clear at the top and, with four wins from their last five games the men from Nottingham are flying at present.

Forest have been superb on the road this season winning four and drawing three of their seven games, and with just two away goals conceded they easily have the best away defensive record in the division.

Forest will take some stopping this year as they look to finally get themselves back into the Championship and at odds against they have to be backed to see of a Robins side that are going to struggle to stay in League One for more than a season.

Cheltenham's main problem this season has been shipping in goals with 23 conceded in just 15 games and the 2-0 defeat at fellow strugglers Leyton Orient last Saturday summed up how they are playing at present.

John Ward's men have now lost eight of their last nine games to find themselves firmly rooted in the relegation zone and with just two goals scored in their last five matches, Forest simply have to be put down as a banker away win this weekend.

Staying in League One and in-form Huddersfield look worth a bet at 10/11 to see off Brighton at the Galpharm Stadium.

The Terriers made a sluggish start to the new season but in recent weeks have started to rediscover their form from last year and, with three straight wins they now find themselves back in the top six and looking to further close the gap on the top two.

Peter Jackson's men have beaten fellow promotion hopefuls Bradford, Carlisle and Port Vale in recent weeks to highlight how well they are playing at present, and on home soil they have to be fancied to turn over a Seagulls outfit who have los four of their seven away games so far.

Dean Wilkins is the man who has been given the task of getting Brighton back to the Championship following the sacking of Mark McGhee, but with no money available and a young squad of players to nurture, a season of mid-table medicrity beckons for the south coast club.

A lack of matuirty cost them in a 1-1 draw at home to Northampton last weekend, and while prior to that they did manage to pull off a shock 2-1 win at Scunthorpe, with four defeats from their last six league games it's fair to say that Huddersfield look super value at 10/11 to bank their fourth home win of the season.

Falling into League Two and Wycombe deserve special attention for their visit to struggling Boston.

Paul Lambert's men currently sit fourth in the league, just five points off top spot and, with back-to-back wins against fellow promotion contenders Peterborough and Swindon, all is looking good at the Causeway Stadium this season.

Indeed things are looking even better after Tuesday night, when the Chairboys put in an heroic performance to knock out Doncaster on penalties to reach the fourth round of the Carling Cup.

Wycombe had to play the last 45 minutes of the match with 10-men but still managed to get the job done and the confidence that must be running through the club at present must make Lambert's men worth a punt at 13/10 to get the better of Boston.

With clean sheets in three of their last four league games the Wycombe defence is obviously in good order and with Tommy Mooney and Jermain Easter having already bagged 15 goals between them this season, it's no surprise to see Wycombe constanly finding the net against their opponents.

On Saturday the strike duo will come up against a Boston side who have won just three of their first 15 games, albeit all three of these wins have come at home, and who have managed to win just one of their last eight.

Boston slipped to a 2-1 defeat in their last match against fellow strugglers Bury and since the loss of striker Julian Joachim to Darlington the Pilgrims have lost any cutting edge they had in the final third.

In recent weeks Boston boss Steve Evans has also had to contend with a growing injury list and with the games coming in thick and fast he has been unable to do much in terms of bringing in loan players.

Wycombe certainly won't have it all their own way at York Street on Saturday, but three sides have already left their with maximum points this season, and with the Chairboys on a role they are the selection at Totalbet.

A GUARANTEED PROFIT ON MANCHESTER CITY v MIDDLESBROUGH

The Sky Monday match comes from the City of Manchester Stadium this week as Manchester City play host to Middlesbrough and we can guarantee you a profit on the match, whatever the result.

You won't be able to do this if you already have accounts with one or more of the bookies we are using for this bet but if that is the case, mail us and let us know which accounts you have and we'll send you an alternative bet.

What we are going to do is back the draw with Premier Bet in the hope of gathering a decent win. We are also going to back both Manchester City and Middlesbrough so that we ensure that we end up in profit on this bet, whatever the result. Read on and you will find out how.

We're going to lay out a total of £125.00 on the match and we will collect £167.15 if it's a draw. If either side wins, we will get all our money back. Whatever the result, we will also gain a £25.00 free bet.

Here's how it's done. Just follow these simple instructions.

1. Open accounts with Premier Bet and Totesport and Extrabet. This shouldn't take you any longer than ten minutes.

2. Make the following deposits into your new accounts. Deposit £47.35 into your new Premier Bet account. Deposit £52.65 into your new Totesport account. Deposit £25.00 into your new Extrabet account.

3. Now make the following bets.

You have temporarily laid out a total of £125.00. I stress, temporarily... Now sit back, crack a beer open and enjoy the match.

4. Here's what happens at the end of the game.

If it's a draw, you will collect £167.15 from Premier Bet, including your stake back and your first win bonus. This money can be withdraw immediately.

Premier Bet pay a bonus if your first bet is a winner which is tiered according to the odds. So with this bet you will collect the following if it's a draw.

If Manchester City, you will collect £125.04 from Totesport

If Middlesbrough win, you will collect £125.00 from Extrabet.

As with Premier Bet, Extrabet also pay a bonus on your first bet. What they do is match your first bet up to £25.00 so if Boro win, you will collect the following:

£50.00 winnings, plus £50.00 winnings from your free matched bet plus your £25.00 stake back which equals £125.00.

Totesport will then credit your new account with a £25 free bet, whatever the result of the match.

5. This means that the worst case scenario on the Manchester City v Middlesbrough match is no draw and you get all your money back and gain a free £25.00 bet. But if there is a winner, you make £42.15 clean profit plus a free £25.00 bet.

Please feel free to contact us if you have any questions at all about this bet and we will come straight back to you.

Please note that the free bets and bonuses are valid for new customers only so if you already have an account with one or more of the bookies we are using, you won't be able to do this. If that is the case, contact us and we'll mail you an alternative bet using different bookies.

This method of betting was used very successfully during the World Cup and you can read all about how it was done right here.

It's understandable that some people will not believe that it is possible to do this. "What's the catch?" I hear you asking. My answer to that question is that we have been publishing arbitrage bets for three seasons now and literally hundreds of people have profited from following the advice on these pages.

Just enjoy the profit and stay posted for many more of these throughout the season.
