England v New Zealand preview
By Tom Bason March 16 2007
In less than one hour, England’s World Cup campaign kicks off against New Zealand. This is what all of our One-Day International’s have been leading up to. Victory today will all but ensure qualification for the Super-8’s, plus a guaranteed two points in the Super-8’s.

We are still awaiting word on Jimmy Anderson’s broken little finger, and should he not make it, Liam Plunkett and Jon Lewis are set to open the bowling, backed up ably by Monty Panesar, Freddy Flintoff, Paul Collingwood and Jamie Dalrymple.  At the top end of the order, Kevin Pietersen will be aiming for his first One-Day victory since the summer, while Michael Vaughan and Ian Bell will be looking to build on their good performances against Australia last week.  England of course are in good form against the Kiwi’s, but New Zealand themselves have hit a purple patch, dominating a three match series against the tournament favourites Australia.

Current odds (William Hill): England- evens, New Zealand- 4/5 favourites
